Our findings reinforce what a growing body of research is now confirming. Carbon dioxide plays a critical role, yet remains largely overlooked. Studies from institutions like Harvard have shown that elevated CO2 levels are directly linked to reduced cognitive performance, slower response times, and lower productivity, even at levels commonly found indoors.

Our Home CO2 Study

We ran a small domestic CO2 study across multiple UK households

Across several homes, indoor carbon dioxide levels exceeded 1,000 ppm for long stretches of the day, particularly:
 

 

  • Overnight in bedrooms

  • During working from home hours

  • In modern, well insulated spaces with limited ventilation.

Our Study into Algae

In controlled testing, spirulina demonstrated a strong capacity to actively absorb CO2 from the surrounding air, significantly accelerating the reduction of elevated concentrations and returning them toward healthier levels within hours.


This process is continuous and regenerative, meaning the algae not only remove CO2 but sustain this absorption over time as a living system.

This study demonstrates that as indoor CO2 levels rise, sleep quality measurably declines, therefore reducing deep sleep, increasing disturbances, and directly impacting next day wellbeing and performance. Conducted with collaborators from organisations including Hisense, Haier, and Midea.
